In a line that was one where you had to rewind the show a few times to make sure it was real, MSNBC regular and Princeton professor Eddie Glaude Jr. appeared on Monday’s Morning Joe and, in trying to explain Americans’ relatively positive mood nowadays, got off this laugh line: “We cannot underestimate the importance of competence… Competence is actually at the helm .”
Seriously? Try this thought experiment, if you dare: Imagine Joe Biden at the helm of the Ship of State. Estimated time to capsizing — over/under 30 seconds! For the record, Glaude was reacting to a recent Harvard/Harris poll showing Biden with relatively high approval ratings and the suggestion that Biden’s ratings are due to the country (and specifically cable news consumers) aren’t spending every waking moment fixated on Donald Trump.
Just prior to Glaude’s remarks about Biden’s supposed competency (which came following a brief gas crisis, businesses struggling to find workers to sufficiently reopen, the possibility of tax increases, and rising inflation), host Joe Scarborough provided some inadvertent humor of his own about the poll and what it means for Americans as consumers of news (click “expand,” emphasis added): SCARBOROUGH: I’m the wrong person to deliver this message since we’re the hosts of a three-hour show, Mika and I, about politics, I mean, it’s not good for this country to be talking about politics 24 hours a day. We Often Feel Like David Taking on Giants
Today’s Goliath is the Mainstream Media Industrial Complex that brainwashes the masses.
Our mission is very straightforward: To counter the false narratives and nefarious agendas destroying America today. It isn’t easy for obvious reasons; despite incredible growth over the last year we are still a very tiny fish in a huge media pond. But we’re fighting and we will continue to do so, Lord willing, for as long as we possibly can. The battle for America’s present and future is too important for us to back down to the giants that stand in our way.
We need help. I don’t want to say “desperately,” but the need is definitely great. If you have the means, please donate through our GivingFuel page, PayPal, or our Substack page. Your generosity is what keeps these sites running and allows us to get the truth to the masses. We’ve had great success in growing but we know we can do more with your assistance.
Thank you, and God Bless!
