(End of the American Dream)—It appears that Germany is quite serious about getting ready for a war with Russia. Every 18-year-old in Germany is being sent a questionnaire that asks them if they are interested in joining the German military. Responding to the questionnaire is voluntary for women, but it is mandatory for men. For a nation that relentlessly preaches “equality” among the sexes, that seems rather odd. Men that indicate that they have zero interest in joining the German military are not off the hook. Under an ominous new law, all 18-year-old men in Germany must report for mandatory military medical exams to evaluate their fitness for military service.
I realize that this sounds like something out of a dystopian novel.
But this is actually happening.
The German military has confirmed that “all men liable for military service who were born after 31 December 2007” must undergo mandatory military medical exams…
A spokesperson for the Defence Ministry told the BBC that under the law, the obligation to undergo a medical examination applies “to all men liable for military service who were born after 31 December 2007”.
This also applies to people who have stated that they have no interest in compulsory military service. The spokesperson said that since July around 1,000 18-year-old men, who showed no interest in the army, have had the medical exam.
If this was happening in the U.S., there would be massive protests.
So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that massive student protests have erupted in Germany.

The questionnaire is mandatory for men and voluntary for women. All 18-year-old men will have to take a medical exam to assess their fitness for possible military service.
The organisers of the protests, say the trigger came after some 18-year-olds in the northern German towns of Kiel and Flensburg, were sent official invitations for medical exams, even though they expressed no interest in joining the army on their registration forms.
I can understand why they are so upset.
I wouldn’t want to be used as cannon fodder by the European elite either.

Many of these kids are afraid that they are going to be sent to die on the killing fields of eastern Ukraine.

Tensions between Germany and Russia have greatly escalated over the past few months, and they haven’t been this high since the end of World War II.
Of course if our European allies end up sending ground forces into Ukraine, that will mean all-out war with the Russians.
Speaking about such a scenario, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently indicated that such a conflict would be “very short”…

My recommendation would be to seek peace with the Russians while it is still possible to do so.
Because if it comes down to a nuclear war with Russia, billions of people could end up dead.
Meanwhile, there have been some very alarming developments in the UK.

British cops on Sunday arrested five suspected terrorists accused of plotting a van bombing attack at a UK military base used by the US Air Force for its strikes on Iran.
Dramatic pictures show the suspects being held at gunpoint while stripped to the waist, after officers suspected they may have been wearing suicide vests for their alleged plot, according to reports.
It appears that the attack that they were planning was imminent, and authorities were able to recover “chemicals and suspected explosive devices” that the terrorists had in their possession…
A bomb disposal robot was later seen moving between three vans after chemicals and suspected explosive devices were found during the operation at Royal Air Force Fairford in Gloucestershire, Southwest England, the UK Sun reported.
Were these terrorists just doing this on their own, or were they working with someone?
At this stage, authorities are attempting to determine if there is any link to Iran…
Counter-terrorism police are investigating whether Iran was behind a suspected bomb plot targeting the RAF Fairford base which is used by the US Air Forces. Five men have been arrested on suspicion of explosive and terrorism offences this morning, September 27.
Three “suspicious vehicles” travelling towards RAF Fairford were reported to police at about 12.45am on Sunday, Gloucestershire police said, with the report prompting a large emergency response. Five men were arrested by armed officers in the Whelford area under suspicion of committing offences under the Explosives Act. They were then further arrested under suspicion of preparation of a terrorist act, the force said in an update issued at approximately 2pm.
I have a feeling that those terrorists are linked to Iran in some way.
Hopefully we will get more details in the coming hours.
The Iranians keep telling us that they want peace, but Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also just admitted to NBC News that his country is prepared to fight a “doomsday war” with the United States…
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sunday that his country is ready for a “doomsday” war with the U.S., but that he is leaving diplomacy on the table so as not to “miss any chance for peace.”
Araghchi made the comments during an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” following last week’s United Nations General Assembly. The U.S. and Iran have been locked in an on-again, off-again war since Feb. 28, which has caused a global oil shock that has spiked gas prices and fanned the flames of inflation.
“If you ask us, there is no reason why we should go back to diplomacy, but I am still trying diplomacy because I think we shouldn’t miss any chance for peace,” Araghchi said. “We are ready to negotiate as much as we are ready to face any challenge … We stand firm in the face of any aggression against us, even if it comes to a doomsday war.”
I wish that I could ask him a couple of questions.
Number one, what does he think a “doomsday war” with the United States would look like?
Number two, does his statement imply that Iran possesses “doomsday weapons” that would be used in such a “doomsday war”?
Sadly, the Iranians are not taking steps to reduce hostilities.
Instead, they just greatly escalated matters.
It is being reported that Iran just attacked 19 ships in a period of just 48 hours…
Hostilities in the narrow strait continued for a second night, according to Bloomberg, citing reports from the semi-official Fars news agency that Iranian armed forces had targeted 19 ships attempting to use authorized routes in the waterway over the preceding 48 hours.
It appears that the conflict in the Middle East will soon go to an entirely new level.
The same thing could be said about the conflict with Russia.
We are literally watching World War III play out right in front of our eyes, but most of the hundreds of millions of people that are living in comfort in the western world still don’t get it.
However, I do think that the seriousness of what we are facing is starting to sink in for 18-year-old men in Germany.
Receiving a notice to report for a mandatory military medical exam in the mail is quite a wake up call.
I just wish that the majority of the western world was awake, because global events could soon spiral completely out of control.

Two Storms, One Harvest
Every food crisis in living memory has been a one-shock event. The 2008 price spike was a commodity bubble. The 2020 shortages were a logistics failure. The 2022 grain scare was a war on one exporter’s ports. Each time, the system bent, adjusted, and recovered, and each time the experts assured us afterward that global markets are simply too big and too diversified to fail.
What nobody in Washington seems eager to discuss is that 2026 is shaping up to be something the modern food system has never actually faced. Two independent shocks, one climatic and one geopolitical, are converging on the same harvest cycle at the same time. Not sequentially. Simultaneously.
Start with the weather. The Pacific Ocean is currently building toward what forecasters now openly call a record event. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center puts the odds of at least a strong El Niño near 88 percent, with roughly two in three odds it reaches “very strong” status, the tier reserved for perhaps three or four events in the entire satellite era. Every major global model now projects a median peak in Super El Niño territory, and most of them project it exceeding the 2015-16 event, which until now held the modern record. Sea surface anomalies were already brushing the super threshold in mid-July, months before these events normally peak. The atmosphere has already shifted into El Niño mode, and the event is forecast to crest in late fall and early winter.
This is not about “climate change.” It’s about the standard cycles of weather, and the cycle we’re currently in is one that has likely devastated societies in the past. We’re better prepared as a society today, but not all Americans are equally prepared.
Serious households have started doing the quiet math on their own. The Fertilizer Clock Is Already Running
While the Pacific warms, the second shock has been unfolding in the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict with Iran turned the world’s most important energy chokepoint into a contested waterway, and the consequences reach far beyond the gas pump. Roughly a third of global fertilizer trade moves through Hormuz, and the disruption sent urea prices up 86 percent year over year by March, with a 53 percent jump in a single month.
The World Bank projects energy prices rising about 24 percent in 2026 and fertilizer about 31 percent. By its own accounting, fertilizer prices ran 35 percent higher in the first five months of this year than the same period last year.
Here is the mechanism the nightly news will not explain. Fertilizer is not a grocery item. It is a time-delayed input. The nitrogen a farmer in Iowa or Punjab could not afford to apply this spring does not show up as a problem this spring. It shows up as a thinner harvest six to twelve months later.
The World Bank’s own food security brief concedes that the effects of reduced applications earlier this season “are likely to become visible only later in harvest outcomes.” Translate that from institutional language into plain English and it means this. The damage is already done, it is already in the ground, and we are simply waiting for it to arrive on the shelf.
Now check the calendar. Six to twelve months from the spring planting season lands us squarely in late 2026 and early 2027. Which is precisely when the strongest El Niño in the instrumental record is forecast to peak, bringing its signature droughts to Southeast Asia, Australia, southern Africa, northern Brazil, and South Asia, the very regions that grow the world’s rice, sugar, and oilseeds.
The World Bank warns openly that a strong El Niño “could disrupt multiple crop belts simultaneously” on top of the conflict-driven input costs. Their baseline projection assumes the Middle East disruptions ease by autumn. What in the last two years of Middle East history suggests that assumption is safe?
The System Has No Slack Left
The comfortable answer is that global markets always adjust. But adjustment requires slack, and the slack is gone. Global cereal production is expected to decline from last year’s records even before El Niño does its work. The UN World Food Programme, hardly a den of right-wing preppers, is calling this the most significant disruption to its supply chains since Covid and the invasion of Ukraine, and its supply chain director put the stakes bluntly.
Today’s supply chain challenges are tomorrow’s hunger crisis.
There is also a political dimension that markets cannot price. When food gets scarce, governments do not behave like economists. They behave like politicians. Export bans, hoarding mandates, and panic buying at the national level turned the modest rice shortfall of 2008 into a global crisis, and analysts are already warning that import-dependent nations are the first dominoes.
The 2015-16 Super El Niño, a far weaker event than what is now forecast, threw tens of millions into food stress across Africa and Asia. This one is projected to be stronger, and it arrives with fertilizer already rationed by price and shipping lanes already contested by missiles.
What Joseph Knew
Scripture does not treat preparation for lean years as faithlessness. It treats it as wisdom delivered in advance to those willing to act on it.
Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt: And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt.
Joseph did not respond to that warning with a hashtag or a committee. He stored grain during the years of abundance, and when the famine came, Egypt stood while its neighbors begged. The lesson is not that famine is certain. It is that the time to prepare is precisely when preparation still looks optional.
Nobody who filled a pantry in a year of plenty has ever regretted it, and nobody standing in an empty aisle has ever been glad he waited for certainty.
None of this calls for panic, and panic is the enemy of sound judgment anyway. It calls for the same unglamorous prudence our grandparents considered ordinary. Keep some cash margin, know your local growers, and put real food in deep storage while it is cheap and available, because the entire arc of this story is that cheap and available is a closing window.
