Lifelong Democrat Warns Radical Socialists Will Destroy the Party If Leaders Stay Silent

A lifelong Democrat who once worked in the Clinton White House just said what millions of Americans already know. The Democratic Party is being hollowed out from the inside by radical socialists who do not hide their intentions.

Jamie Metzl, a former National Security Council staffer under Bill Clinton, went on Fox & Friends and delivered a blunt warning. The Democratic Socialists of America are not some fringe book club. They are a radical extremist movement trying to seize control of the party, and if the leadership keeps hedging, they will destroy it.

“The DSA is a radical extremist movement trying to take over the Democratic Party,” Metzl said. “They want to seize the means of production. They want to eradicate police and prisons. They have a terrible message of discord and hate. So, unless the Democratic Party takes on these dangerous, extremist radicals in a very clear and unequivocal way now, we will destroy our own party. And that’s not good for the Democrats, and it’s not for America.”

He called out House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries by name. Jeffries has been trying to thread the needle, offering mild criticism while still treating DSA-backed candidates as legitimate Democrats. Metzl sees the danger clearly. If Democrats somehow take the House by riding an alliance with these radicals, the price will be the soul of the party itself.

“Now is the time for the Democrats to say, ‘Here’s who we are, and here’s what we stand for. And the future of the Democratic Party is not accommodating dangerous extremist radicals who are against American democracy.'”

This is not abstract theory. In recent primaries, DSA-aligned candidates have been knocking off established Democrats in deep-blue districts. In New York, candidates backed by socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani flipped seats once held by more moderate figures.

In Colorado, a DSA-backed challenger ousted a longtime incumbent. The pattern is clear. The radicals are not waiting for permission. They are running as Democrats, winning Democratic primaries, and pushing an agenda that includes public ownership of major industries, the gradual abolition of police and prisons, and a fundamental rewrite of the American system of government.

Metzl is no conservative. He has spent his career inside the Democratic establishment. When a man like that starts sounding the alarm about a “fundamental threat” to both his party and the country, the rest of us should pay attention. The DSA platform does not hide its goals. Public ownership of key industries. Defunding and ultimately abolishing the carceral state. Restructuring core institutions of American self-government. These are not the views of reformers who simply want better healthcare. These are the views of people who believe the American experiment itself is the problem.

Scripture warned us about this kind of infiltration long ago. “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” The clothing here is the Democratic Party label. The agenda underneath is something far older and more destructive: the elevation of the collective over the individual, the state over the family, and man-made utopia over the limits God placed on human power.

Jeffries and the rest of the party leadership face a choice. They can draw a hard line and defend the basic constitutional order that still allows free people to govern themselves. Or they can keep treating the DSA as just another faction to be managed for the sake of a temporary majority. History is not kind to parties that make the second choice. Once the radicals gain real power, they do not share it.

The Democratic Party once claimed to stand for the working man and for ordered liberty under law. Today a growing share of its rising stars openly reject both. A former Clinton official has noticed. The only question left is whether the people still running the party will do anything about it before the takeover is complete.
