On Tuesday, actor Alec Baldwin mourned New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) resignation following a lengthy investigation that concluded the governor sexually harassed multiple women throughout his tenure and broke state and federal law.
On Twitter, Baldwin wrote “Regardless of what you think of Cuomo, this is a tragic day. Party politics in this country draw ambitious but ultimately isolated, even socially maladjusted men and women who, given the current cancel culture, will likely have their shortcomings exposed and magnified[.]” Regardless of what you think of Cuomo, this is a tragic day.
Party politics in this country draw ambitious but ultimately isolated, even socially maladjusted men and women who, given the current cancel culture, will likely have their shortcomings exposed and magnified — AlecBaldwin(HABF) (@AlecBaldwin) August 10, 2021 Attributing Cuomo’s habitual sexual harassment as “shortcomings” and chalking it up to being “ambitious, but ultimately isolated, even socially maladjusted” did not sit well with other Twitter users. Alec Baldwin responds to Cuomo resignation: “This is a tragic day”
I guess Alec doesn’t have any sympathy for the 11 women and the 74K pieces of evidence reviewed against Cuomo, eh? What a sick statement by the actor — Wayne Dupree Media, LLC (@WayneDupreeShow) August 10, 2021 He had 11 women come out against him, Alec. Delete this. — rachel leishman (@RachelLeishman) August 10, 2021 Even granting your premises, how is the tragic part not the fact that the system allowed Cuomo to sexually abuse women, but the fact that it belatedly compelled him to stop? — Angus Johnston (@studentactivism) August 10, 2021 PRO TIP 1: Blaming party politics and personality disorders is nothing short of deflection.
PRO TIP 2: The moment someone pulls the “cancel culture” card, you know good and well they’re looking to preserve privilege and evade accountability. pic.twitter.com/aZVXCdjjWp — Adrienne Lawrence (@AdrienneLaw) August 10, 2021 is this… alec baldwin calling andrew cuomo “socially maladjusted” https://t.co/S7R48aCeAe — danielle tcholakian (@danielleiat) August 10, 2021 Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer chimed in, calling Cuomo’s behavior “inappropriate” and noting that cancel culture did not play a part in his downfall. They’re Trying to Shut Us Down
Over the last several months, I’ve lost count of how many times the powers-that-be have tried to shut us down. They’ve sent hackers at us, forcing us to take extreme measures on web security. They sent attorneys after us, but thankfully we’re not easily intimidated by baseless accusations or threats. They’ve even gone so far as to make physical threats. Those can actually be a bit worrisome but Remington has me covered.
For us to continue to deliver the truth that Americans need to read and hear, we ask you, our amazing audience, for financial assistance. We have a Giving Fuel page to help us pay the bills. It’s brand new so don’t be discouraged by the lack of donations there. It’s a funny reality that the fewer the donations that have been made, the less likely people are willing to donate to it. One would think this is counterintuitive, but sometimes people are skeptical because they think that perhaps there’s a reason others haven’t been donating. In our situation, we’re just getting started so please don’t be shy if you have the means to help.
Thank you and God bless!
