AP Photo/Evan Vucci, File President Joe Biden’s Treasury Department announced it has created a new post to combat alleged racial inequality issues in banking and other financial services industries.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Monday that Janis Bowdler, a former JPMorgan Chase executive is “part of a multi-pronged strategy by the Biden administration to deal with systemic racism found in many parts of the economy,” the Associated Press (AP) reported.
”Treasury must play a central role in ensuring that as our economy recovers from the pandemic, it recovers in a way that addresses the inequalities that existed long before anyone was infected with COVID-19,” Yellen said in a statement. Treasury welcomes the Department’s first-ever Counselor for Racial Equity, Janis Bowdler. Ms. Bowdler has spent decades advancing economic equity solutions for communities of color and will be charged with coordinating Treasury’s racial equity efforts. https://t.co/q6T5ynGkwN — Treasury Department (@USTreasury) October 25, 2021 I’ve appointed Janis Bowdler to serve as Treasury’s first Counselor for Racial Equity, charged with coordinating Treasury’s efforts to advance racial equity, including identifying & mitigating barriers to accessing benefits & opportunities with the Dept. https://t.co/a1in9cmlej — Secretary Janet Yellen (@SecYellen) October 25, 2021 The AP reported on the Biden administration’s governance through a racial lens: Last week the Justice Department announced a new coordinated plan with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Comptroller of the Currency to investigate and prosecute redlining, the historic practice where blacks and other minorities were denied access to financing. The AP also noted Bowdler’s association with the leftist, open borders organization La Raza, which AP called “an advocacy organization for Latino issues”: Before her Treasury Department appointment, Bowdler was president of the JPMorgan Chase & Co. Foundation, the arm of JPMorgan Chase that tries to target investments into underserved neighborhoods and communities. She also worked at the National Council of La Raza. They’re Trying to Shut Us Down
Over the last several months, I’ve lost count of how many times the powers-that-be have tried to shut us down. They’ve sent hackers at us, forcing us to take extreme measures on web security. They sent attorneys after us, but thankfully we’re not easily intimidated by baseless accusations or threats. They’ve even gone so far as to make physical threats. Those can actually be a bit worrisome but Remington has me covered.
For us to continue to deliver the truth that Americans need to read and hear, we ask you, our amazing audience, for financial assistance. We have a Giving Fuel page to help us pay the bills. It’s brand new so don’t be discouraged by the lack of donations there. It’s a funny reality that the fewer the donations that have been made, the less likely people are willing to donate to it. One would think this is counterintuitive, but sometimes people are skeptical because they think that perhaps there’s a reason others haven’t been donating. In our situation, we’re just getting started so please don’t be shy if you have the means to help.
Thank you and God bless!
