The Lincoln Project lashed out at Comcast after the company refused to air its video ad criticizing Fox News for its coverage on the coronavirus pandemic.
The anti-Trump group accused Comcast of being financially motivated in its decision.
“The Lincoln Project was informed by Comcast that they would refuse to run the commercial because it did not meet their guidelines,” the group’s statement said Thursday.
“Our criticism of Fox News falls under Comcast’s description of a business that is in the public forum or the issue is one of public concern,” the statement added.
“Comcast has made one thing clear: Their bottom line comes before anything else; it comes before democracy; and in this case, it comes before the health and safety of the American people,” the group concluded.
The Hill reported that Comcast did not immediately respond to a request for comment. What’s in the ad?
The ad accuses Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News, of killing Americans by allowing “anti-vax hysteria” to be promulgated on the cable news outlet.

Fox News is helping kill Americans,” the narrator concludes before asking viewers to call cable providers to demand that they cancel Fox News.The divisive ad garnered more than 1.2 million views in just eight hours on Twitter.The anti-Trump organization was widely condemned after numerous accusations of sexual harassment and abuse were made against John Weaver, one of the former co-founders of the group. Various members in leadership roles abandoned the group amid the turmoil that followed.A study in 2020 found that many Twitter video ads produced by the Lincoln Project didn’t persuade voters against former President Donald Trump.Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson used the ad rejection to ask for more donations for the group. I hate being “that guy” who asks people to donate because I think our conservative news network is so crucial, but here I am…
When I left my cushy corporate job in 2017, I did so knowing that my family would have to make sacrifices. But I couldn’t continue to watch the nation slip into oblivion and was inspired by President Trump’s willingness to fight the good fight even at his own personal expense. What I didn’t realize then is that conservative media would be so heavily attacked, canceled, and defunded that the sacrifices would be extreme.
Many in this nation are struggling right now even though we weren’t struggling just a few years ago. I’m not alone. But I wake up every morning and operate the sites we’ve been able to build because there’s really no other choice. I refuse to be beholden to Big Tech like so many other conservative news outlets, which is why you won’t see Google ads here. With that said, it’s often challenging to pay the bills and it’s even harder to expand so we can get the America First message out to a wider audience.
The economic downturn has forced me to make a plea for help. Between cancel culture, lockdowns, and diminishing ad revenue, we need financial assistance in order to continue to spread the truth.
